Hello, all. WestCoastApple here with the latest heart fashion info from the west sidddee.
Now we all love our BR–Banana Republic, that is ladies. Ever since they pulled themselves out of the safari Tshirts of the 80s and 90s (which I am not too proud to announce that I wore back in the day) and blasted themselves into the biz-cas world of this century, they have remained a wardrobe staple of yuppies everywhere. I have been known myself to visit their site at 12:01AM Tuesdays to see the web update (this is when they refresh their site). Season after season I have ridden the roller coaster of being a fan, which has included some tragic phases of all neutrals as well as purpley florals for spring, and scary eggplant things in winter. There have also been highs of image after image of navy blue wonderment (WestCoastApple’s signature color).
It is my sad duty to report that right now BR stands for Boring Republic. I have to say, the vibrant color they are peddling is very promising and gives the online viewer hope upon hitting the site. However, sadness prevails when you realize there is not one thing that you want to score for that 15% off that they are pushing. Matronly cardigans, weird patterns, sadness. Examples A and B:
A: Promising but Matronly 50s cardigan that also looks flimsy:
B: Frumpy boxy embroidered jacket that they tried to disguise with cute necklace:
They can’t even rock the navy and yellow, two of my faves! Sigh. Even the Sale is filled with items that don’t dazzle even at $29.99.
Example C: Non-color shapeless cowlneck:
What a true bummer. Plus its an additional blow that my BRCard is a completely secret-from-my-husband shopping outlet. BR things can usually materialize from thin air without him truly knowing how the dolla billz are racking up on that BR Bill.
Boring Republic, please show me some magic for summer coming up this Tuesday or one in the future! I NEED to be plucking up your merch with abandon shortly. Just turn up the volume on the navy blue, the white, the sale items, and adore blazer, and you will have my heart again!
PS–Don’t bring back the Safari Ts–yet.
